The National Youth Agency: Youth Work Week - The pace picks up

1 min read
Youth services are firming up plans for Youth Work Week 2004. Among the activities linked to the week and its "Best of Health" theme is Art Attack, a Forest Heath Borough Council project that will see young people work with an artist to construct a large piece of temporary art in the squash court of a leisure centre. The piece will focus on healthy eating, using fruit and veg to make a picture that can be viewed by visitors from the balcony that overlooks the court.

In Wales, youth charity Plant Dewi is using the week to launch a series of radio dramas that focus on the issue of stress among isolated rural young people. The plays were developed with young people and will be featured on BBC Radio Wales and Radio Cymru over Youth Work Week.

In Ribble Valley, Lancashire, special events providing taster sessions of adventurous and sporting activities are being planned at local leisure centres. Islington is planning a health event and is recruiting young people to produce healthy snacks for the event following a similar approach at a recent successful sports day.

- An information pack for Youth Work Week is available on the NYA web site at www.nya.org.uk, and you can email details of your plans for the week to Tim Burke at timb@nya.org.uk.
