From a skateboarding demonstration in Barnstaple, Devon, to the creation of a community green space in Easterhouse, Glasgow, the week put youth work in the spotlight.
"There was some outstanding press coverage this year," said Tim Burke of The NYA. "Major features in local papers including Newcastle's Evening Chronicle and Peterborough's Evening Telegraph profiled activities held during the week, the wider role of the youth service and, importantly, sought out comments from young people themselves. It could be that we are starting to see the influence of Young People Now's Positive Images campaign."
Among the creative events organised for the week was a mini-Oscars ceremony held in the council chamber at Shire Hall in Gloucester. A range of films produced by young people were screened to guests, including the High Sheriff of Gloucestershire and mayors and chairs of councils in Gloucester, Tewkesbury, Forest of Dean and Stroud. Other events in the county included an accreditation evening in Tewkesbury, a weekend enabling 28 disabled young people to try activities such as body boarding, and an arts showcase at the Bacon Theatre in Cheltenham.
