The National Youth Agency: Youth Work: A manifesto for our times

1 min read
Copies of Youth Work: A manifesto for our times by Bernard Davies, the well-known thinker and writer on youth work, are being made available free of charge by The National Youth Agency.

The article, reprinted from the summer issue of Youth and Policy journal, sets out what Bernard Davies judges to be the most important and salient features of the activity that names itself "youth work". He argues that it is crucial that youth work identifies and clarifies those aspects of its practice that distinguish it from other approaches to work with young people.

To request a copy of the article, email Andy Hopkinson at andyh@nya.org.uk.

The NYA is also looking to set up some round-table events to bring people together to discuss further the ideas and issues in the paper. To express interest in attending one of these events, please email andyh@ nya.org.uk.

The autumn issue of Youth and Policy journal, due out this month, is devoted to critical studies of the Youth Matters green paper. It is available on subscription for 28 for four issues in the UK. Email: sales@nya.org.uk for more information.
