Drawing from their own school experiences, Cassie and Tanya sought to inform and challenge the audience by pointing out that, far too often, young people lack the "choice" of a healthy option, illustrating the point perfectly with the rhetorical question, "When my school charges 50 pence for a plate of chips and 1 for a salad, what choice do I really have?"
Attitudes towards physical education in schools were also discussed with everyone agreeing that enforcement of certain activities was only sending out the wrong message to young people about exercise. One member of the audience spoke of how his personal relationship with exercise had been irreversibly damaged because of the way he was forced to participate in sport activities at school he did not like. The delegate added that, unless attitudes are changed, and young people are given a choice when it comes to exercise, then the obesity debate and the worries over the nation's health would only get worse.
