Friday 23 January saw Thurrock's annual youth conference, organised by Thurrock Youth Commission and supported by Thurrock Youth Service.
The conference was attended by local councillors, including council leader Andy Smith who opened the event. The keynote speaker was local MP Angela Smith.
The National Youth Agency was invited to facilitate a morning workshop on its Votes at 16 campaign. There was an opportunity to raise questions with Angela Smith and the issue of votes at 16 was received positively by delegates.
The afternoon saw a discussion forum on Votes at 16 with delegates looking to The Electoral Commission to publish its recommendations after its extensive review.
