The National Youth Agency: Young people play valuable role atBroxbourne '3Style Festival'

1 min read

It may be difficult to believe, but an outdoor-based festival held on 1 July saw more than 600 young people enjoying music and a BBQ in the sunshine.

Organised by the Hertfordshire Children's Trust Partnership, and attended by The NYA, the 3Style Festival at Broxbourne Civic Hall was held specifically for 13- to 19-year-olds.

A total of 21 young bands performed over two stages - one indoor - with nine DJs and a dance hall. All performers were Hertfordshire-based, and bands covered everything from indie and rock to jazz-funk and house.

Young people played a huge role in every aspect of planning the event, from choice of bands to designing posters and a web site. On the day, a crew of 40 young people helped run the proceedings, including handling indoor stage lighting and assisting sound and stage technicians. During the event, young people consulted their peers for their views on Youth Matters key issues for the Children and Young People's Plan.
