The first event will provide opportunities for youth workers and other professionals to discuss and reflect upon current working practices specific to young men. It will focus on the need for effective programmes that facilitate personal and social development and will introduce a range of ideas for activities to explore the issues around growing up as a male.
The event is based on the NYA handbook Work With Young Men. It will consider how masculinity is represented in society, will suggest actions that challenge male stereotypes, and explore risk-taking behaviour while promoting positive relationships.
The second event is intended to help workers and other professionals plan work with young women within a single-gender environment. The training is based on The NYA's Work With Young Women handbook. It includes a range of activities and resources that encourage young women to celebrate growing up as a female, promote healthy lifestyles and build positive outlooks.
