"Actions speak louder...", the Youth Challenge competition, aims to promote the achievement of 13- to 19-year-olds who have developed innovative projects through the Youth Opportunity Fund and the Youth Capital Fund (YCF).
Katie Johnson of Harrow Youth Participation Team described how one local YCF project in the running for an award is already benefitting local young people: "Studio Time was created by three young leaders, plus half a dozen friends, with a passion for urban music. The leaders were all previously poor school attenders who left school as soon as they could. They dreamed of having their own recording studio but they thought it impossible. They heard about YCF and were encouraged to bid for money.
