Other key findings from the research into the financial year 2001-02, the sixth annual analysis of basic data about England's youth service compiled by The NYA, include:
- The funding reported for youth work from budgets other than the mainstream local authority youth service budget has continued to increase, reflecting the growing importance of funding from external - often short-term - sources. It now stands at 60m - more than three times that reported in 1996-97 (19.5m) - and represents 18 per cent of total spending on youth services in England.
- Reduced or static expenditure was reported by 34 youth services - 27 showing a reduction of five per cent or more.
