The National Youth Agency: Southampton's S*tar Project showsActions Speak Louder

In the latest of our series of winner profiles, we take a look at a Southampton City Council project that is helping young people to address often difficult issues regarding sexual health and relationships

Like many cities, Southampton suffers from high rates of sexual abuse and violence, often involving young people at risk. In response to the problem, Southampton Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Counselling Services set up the S*tar Project (Southampton Together Against Rape), an education and outreach initiative aimed at young people, that has been running across the city for nearly seven years. In that time, S*tar has had dealings with approximately 20,000 young people, educating them in the importance of positive relationships.
