The footballer, now with Charlton, gave the signed shirt to him, as a West Ham supporter, upon Roger's retirement as Bishop of Barking. And, during a recent visit to Zambia, Bishop Roger donated the shirt to be auctioned during a seven-a-side soccer tournament, with proceeds going to charity. Bidding started at 1,000 US Dollars - an enormous sum in Zambia where most people live on less than 1 US Dollar a day. The story also made the headlines in Zambia's National Mirror newspaper.
