The National Youth Agency: Silver Jubilee for Landmark

Bishop Roger Sainsbury, chair of The National Youth Agency, made a presentation to Forida Khanom (see picture) of a special award made to the young person who has travelled the longest distance, having put the greatest effort into overcoming barriers to training that they may have encountered. The Bishop helped found the project in 1980 when he was warden of the Mayflower Centre in Canning Town and set up a job creation programme involving 15 unemployed young people building boats. "When we launched our job creation projects 25 years ago, we never dreamt they would lead to such important training projects for young people as Landmark," he commented.
