Young correspondent Marie Duffy remembers the vibrantly coloured and often sickly tasting concoctions. The drinks achieved sales of 1.6 billion in 2002, mainly among young women, but a rise in tax and a fall in "trendiness" has caused a decline in recent times. "The ease of their consumption was frightening," recalls Marie. "In fact, I think my stomach must now have a permanent blue tinge after all those WKD Blues."
