This toolkit brings together the learning from the Young Roots initiative which awarded over £15m to more than 750 youth-led and heritage based projects. It is designed to help those who work with young people to develop a youth and heritage project.
The toolkit draws on the experiences of Young Roots participants, the good practice gathered by the team of regional Young Roots coordinators who supported and rolled out the programme, and evidence from a three-year external evaluation. It is intended for use by a wide range of practitioners from both the youth work and heritage sectors.
The resource looks at how you can support young people to develop their own projects, providing tips and advice on introducing young people to heritage, how young people learn about heritage, how to ensure full participation and encourage creativity, working with partners and involving the wider community.
