The National Youth Agency: Putting good health under scrutiny

"It is in everyone's interest to have young people who are fit - fit for work, fit for society, fit for life," said Hilary Spiers, director of communications at The NYA.

The call comes in the latest issue in The Agency's Spotlight briefing series - Healthy Minds - Healthy Bodies ... defusing the adolescent health time-bomb. This highlights five priority areas for action - reducing obesity and promoting healthier diets; reducing alcohol and substance misuse; promotion of positive sexual health; reducing unplanned pregnancies; and better mental health provision for young people.

"The personal relationships that youth workers have with the young people they work with are key to encouraging them to reach their potential and lead healthy and fulfilling lives", added Spiers.
