A landmark networking event for hospital based youth work practitioners, Lifting the Lid, was held last December to find out the size, scope, needs and wants of the sector and to examine key issues. This was attended by 27 hospital-based staff who called for their own professional body to give them a nationally unified voice, better information sharing and a need for more understanding between youth workers and the National Health Service.
Now The NYA's Youth Work for Health team has created a web page to continue to build the process. Youth Work for Health manager Richard McKie said "As part of the longer term development of the youth work in hospitals project, we would like to map out all of the places and spaces that this niche work appears in. We will continue to build up the map, and would ask anyone who works in similar settings to contact us.
