Creating a rangoli rice design, street dancing, performing a bharatanatyam dance sequence, MC'ing at a festival. It's not every day that a group of inner-city young people can access such a diverse range of arts activities, but that's exactly what's happening in Nottingham thanks to the APT project.
"We aim to develop creative opportunities for young people," explains project co-ordinator Sarah Greaves. "Projects are youth-led; they support a very innovative process and unique and exciting creative outcomes."
Part of the City Arts organisation in Nottingham, APT is a city-wide project using the arts to promote the personal and social development and inclusion of young people. Five years ago, the project received funding from The National Youth Agency's Neighbourhood Support Fund, which aims to use the best of youth work practice to re-engage young people.
