The National Youth Agency: Honour for National Youth Agency young intern

1 min read
National Youth Agency young intern Belinda Fumai has been honoured with a prestigious Diana Award for being an inspirational role model.

The Diana Award is a unique lifetime honour, presented to individual young people for their compassion, outstanding and selfless contribution to their communities.

Belinda, who is 19-years-old, has been chosen for the award because of her passionate commitment to advocating on behalf of young people and ensuring that their voice is heard and recognised in society.

Award holders are positive role models and challenge negative stereotypes of young people. They are rewarded by automatically becoming members of the Diana Alumni programme, enabling them to continue their hard work and provide them with the skills to develop to their full potential.

Fiona Blacke, National Youth Agency chief executive, said: "We are delighted for Belinda and are exceptionally proud of her achievements. She is a tremendous role model for young people.

"There are many negative stereotypes of young people in society and we hope that through this award and Belinda's activities some of these myths will be dispelled."

Belinda added: "I am delighted and honoured to have my work recognised in this way. I am passionate about ensuring young people's role in society is valued and I would implore other young people to get involved in their community."
