In partnership with Asdan, the agency has been commissioned by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority to carry out research into Entry and Level 1 non-accredited provision to identify examples of learning that can be accredited into the Qualification and Credit Framework and used within the Foundation Learning Tier's Progression Pathways.
There has been a growing recognition that there are gaps in the Foundation Learning Tier, particularly in terms of non-formal learning programmes that develop personal and social development skills and therefore are a useful step into formal learning or employment. The research will focus on non-formal learning programmes, which are about personal and social development, that may have been designed as part of re-engagement or employability programmes.
