The Government's delayed youth green paper is trailed in Labour's manifesto, promising "places to go, things to do" as its offer to young people. Yet its promises remain vague on how any such entitlement will be delivered or funded. For many young people to take advantage of opportunities that arise, they are also going to need "someone to speak to, and a bus to catch".
The key element in getting it right is going to be the involvement of young people. Put very simply, young people are experts on the needs of young people, so make sure they have a voice.That's why last week we lent our voice to the "Shout out for Children" campaign. The NYA believes that young people must be involved in the design and delivery of public and community services - right down to ensuring they are involved in decisions about urban design, speed limits, transport costs and safe spaces.
