This important relationship is further cemented by the key role that The Agency's Education and Training Standards Committee plays on behalf of the JNC in validating training courses for professional youth work in some 30 universities.

In this field, as in others,The NYA works in partnership to build good professional practice through independent, rigorous scrutiny of initial training; through promulgation of our Statement of Ethical Conduct; and through encouragement of a systematic approach to ensuring a diverse, well-qualified workforce.

Down the years this activity has borne much fruit. We now have a good range of professional qualifications reached by a variety of modes including distance learning, foundation degrees and postgraduate diplomas. With our partners in the field and in the JNC we have created a robust methodology for external validation.
