The National Youth Agency: Agency points way to service reformvision

The paper, written by Youth Access director Barbara Rayment, aims to help senior youth work managers keep up to date with government initiatives that have implications for youth work, with particular reference to Youth Matters.

It outlines six key issues in achieving a vision of service reform in the provision of information, advice and guidance.

These include the blurring of the distinction between universal and targeted services, catering for the diversity of needs, ensuring diversity in providers and settings, getting a mix of professional skills and people, ensuring the importance of youth work values and principles, and giving greater attention to the needs of those aged 16 to 19 and beyond.
