The leaflets, one general and one specifically for disabled young people, have been written by author P J White and take young people in a user-friendly manner through their rights under the law (as contained in clause 6 of section 507b of the 2006 Education and Inspections Act). Entitled there's nothing to do around here ..., they aim to challenge this popularly held belief and point out how young people can play a part in deciding what there is for them to do.
Case studies and a list of activities taken from the website of the Breeze project in Leeds illustrate the range of what is possible. Both leaflets can be downloaded for free from The NYA website at www.nya.org.uk.
