
Why is it that I am told that I am worth less than someone over the age of 21? The current minimum wage discriminates on age. The three-tiered system means young workers on the national minimum wage are paid a lot less than older workers for doing the same job. Nearly half of young workers rely on their earnings to get through education and students have to work longer hours because of the low pay, which has a negative impact on their academic study.
We may not be stable economically. However, research has shown that changing the minimum wage would be "minimal" and so I don't see why there is any opposition. Moreover, the Liberal Democrats pledged it in their manifesto and putting politics to the side, it's morally right.
