The Harnessing Technology Schools Survey 2008 found that only half of secondary and a quarter of primary schools identified using learning platforms, or virtual tools, as a priority. Using technology for personalised learning was a priority for four out of 10 secondary schools and just one in four primaries.
Stephen Crowne, chief executive of the government's education technology agency Becta, said technology is crucial to creating a world-class education system. "We need to ensure that schools are using the technology available in an interactive and engaging manner," he said.
