Support services: Youth Access highlights urgency of legal advice

1 min read

The independent longitudinal study, based on in-depth interviews with 25 young people, is being carried out as part of the organisation's Rights to Access Project, which was set up last year to address young people's lack of access to rights-based legal advice services.

Of the 20 young people interviewed so far, nearly all said that had they not received legal advice when they did, they would be on the street, in a mental hospital, in prison or dead.

Early findings will be published in February to coincide with a policy seminar on legal advice for young people, held by Youth Access for policymakers across government, the Legal Services Commission and other organisations.
