Support in Scotland: Helpline for lone parents is launched

Helpline worker Margaret Laidlaw and her eight-month-old son Aaron Ward helped launch an evening telephone service for single parents in Scotland.

The free Lone Parent Helpline gives access to trained advisers,including many lone parents such as Laidlaw, who can help out on topicsincluding housing, benefits, employment and childcare.

The evening service operates on Wednesdays until 8pm. It was set up bylone parent organisations One Plus and One Parent Families Scotland withsupport from the Royal Bank of Scotland. The Lone Parent Helpline numberis 0808 801 0323.
