Statutory Guidance: The Roles and Responsibilities of the Lead Member for Children's Services and the Director of Children's Services

The Department for Children, Schools and Families is consulting on the updated statutory guidance on the roles and responsibilities of the lead member for children's services and the director of children's services, set out in the Children Act 2004.

The two are directly responsible for local authority education and children's social services, and the guidance aims to highlight how outcomes for children, young people and families can be effectively improved by both parties working together.

The guidance will replace the 2005 statutory guidance on the roles and responsibilities of the director of children's services and lead member for children's services.

Closing date: 10 February
