Station formed to tackle knife crime

Youth Work
Young people in south London will get the chance to air their views about knife crime during a month-long radio project.

Community station South City Radio has set up Reprezent 87.7FM, which will broadcast live for a month from 5 August. The station will be run by 85 young people aged 14 to 19 and will give them the opportunity to express their views about knife crime in the area.

All the young people taking part have received training in presenting and production skills from not-for-profit organisation Eclectic Productions.

A range of celebrities are also involved, including Dizzee Rascal, Richard Blackwood and the rapper Bashy.

Bashy said: "Reprezent is an exciting project. It's great to be working to keep people on the straight and narrow."
