What does the group do? It is an opportunity for local mums to support each other when breastfeeding their babies.

They come together once a week for about an hour and a half to socialise and share common issues. The group also provides health professionals with the chance to offer appropriate advice and refer mums to others if they have any specific medical concerns. The group is run by two staff nurses and a children's centre worker, who is also a trained Breast Mate.

What is a Breast Mate? This is a group of local mums in Salford who all have breastfeeding experience and have since taken a course in breastfeeding training, developed by La Leche League of Great Britain. The group offers information and advice to mums across Salford, as well as providing equipment for loan, such as breast pumps, videos and books.
