"Before my son, Sean*, received any help he was very frustrated, hedidn't seem to know what we were saying, and it was hard for us tounderstand him," admits Heather Campbell. "But now he's much moreco-operative, he can play properly with other children and has been ableto start mainstream education. We all feel very fortunate," sheadds.
However, Heather had to travel a circuitous route to get Sean the helphe needed. "After I talked with our health visitor and our GP, wedecided to visit a private specialist to see what the problem was as theNHS waiting list was too long and we were afraid of the effects of anybig delay," she explains. "We found out that his hearing was veryimpaired because of glue ear."
