Capita Children's Services will release its universal needs assessment (UNA) on 8 October. The software tool is an add-on to the firm's existing eStart product, which is used in children's centres across England.
UNA contains 300 questions that health professionals can ask expectant mothers about their health, lifestyle and family history. It will then allow the nurse to store information about the family to flag up future issues and signpost them to the most appropriate services.
Nic Fell, product director, said: "This will allow health workers to work with parents to give them a better chance."
