Soft Market Testing: Non-Statutory School Improvement Services for Havering Schools and Beyond

1 min read Education

The London Borough of Havering Council is exploring market options for the future provision of the non-statutory elements of the School Improvement Service and invites organisations with potential interest in the delivery of such services to complete a soft market testing questionnaire.

The School Improvement Service works with schools to facilitate accurate self-evaluation and improvement. This includes specific support for leadership and management, teaching and learning, curriculum support in maths, English, ICT, English as an additional language, ethnic minority achievement, assessment and wellbeing.

Currently the service provides continuing professional development, in-school consultancy and advice and performance management support and quality assurance. This includes a School Improvement Professionals (SIP) Service,  as well as Mid-Ofsted Reviews to add value, regardless of the current overall effectiveness of the school.

The service enjoys an excellent reputation and operates as a highly successful and committed team. Its impact is reflected in the impressive outcomes of Havering schools and the positive testimonials from customers both in Havering and beyond.  The traded arm of the service already has 100% buy-back to its range of offers from Havering primary schools – and some significant contracts within the secondary and academy sector. The service has also already secured work in other areas, including Thurrock, Waltham Forest, Brentwood and Basildon and other parts of Essex.

The council would very much welcome your views as part of this soft market testing on the options for providing the service in future. To participate, please send an email by Monday 23 July requesting the soft market testing questionnaire quoting reference number; NSHSIS01 to supporting.people@havering.gov.uk.

The deadline for return of questionnaires is Monday 6 August.
