Social Services: Suspensions for Liverpool staff

Four children's social workers in Liverpool have been suspended, just two weeks after they went back to work following a long-running industrial dispute.

The council said it had a duty to investigate allegations about staff conduct. A spokesman said: "Some staff have been suspended in line with council procedures. It would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage."

Unison said allegations were not yet clear and may not be related to the strike.
