Social Care News: Inspection - Inspectors praise Medway centre

The treatment of children and young people at Medway Secure Training Centre has significantly improved, according to inspectors.

They praised the improved management structure, the centre's calmer atmosphere and the education service.

There was also an improved provision of basic essentials for everyday living, such as hair and skin products, less reliance on intervention and more on encouragement and incentives.

But the centre was not dealing satisfactorily with complaints about food and did not have enough night staff on duty.
