They have agreed a regional fostering contract, which means social workers placing children with independent foster carers now have one set of terms and conditions to work with. A common set of standards to improve quality has also been agreed.
"It's more outcome-focused for children," said Marie Holmes, commissioning and contracts officer at Bath and North East Somerset Council. She also said the move would reduce bureaucracy and provide better value.
