Surrey County Council had 39 calls during the Fostering Network's two-week campaign, which ended on Sunday, compared with 28 the fortnight before, an increase of 39 per cent.
There were 12 responses to media coverage, compared to none in the previous two weeks.
Halton Social Services in Merseyside estimated enquiries rose 20 to 30 per cent.
