The Commission for Social Care Inspection, launched on 1 April, replaced the National Care Standards Commission.
Officers at the new commission asked the association to recommend changes.
"We were encouraged by their response and their openness," said association spokesman Andy Sweeney.
- The association's merger with the National Association of Residential Children's Homes (Children Now, 10-16 March) looks set to go ahead. Sweeney said uniting was "common sense - the bigger we are, the louder our voice".
