The findings of Inspection of Child Protection Services - Overview Report are based on inspections across the principality in 2001 and 2002.
The report said in most cases, there were problems in delivering good social work practice, children and family support services that are responsive to need, a dynamic contribution from other agencies or professionals, and compliance with multi-agency and single-agency case management procedures.
There were also widespread problems with the provision of child and adolescent mental health services and facilities for disabled children. According to the report, many of the problems were caused by the UK-wide shortage of social workers.
