Sir Bill Callaghan, Chair, Legal Services Commission

Sir Bill Callaghan has been appointed as chair of the Legal Services Commission by Justice Secretary Jack Straw. He will chair a 12-member board and oversee the strategic direction of the commission, which is responsible for the legal aid scheme in England and Wales. He takes up the three-year position in September, and is stepping down from his current role as chair of the Health and Safety Commission.
