- What does the trust do?
The trust is one of only four specialist NHS trusts in England that provides care exclusively to children and young people. Its specialisms include neurosurgery, orthopaedics and neonatal surgery. The trust has provided care for more than 125 years, becoming an NHS Trust in 1992 and a Foundation Trust in 2006. The Healthcare Commission's 2006/07 review placed it in the top five per cent of NHS organisations.
- Where is it?
Sheffield in south Yorkshire. The trust's main services are provided through the 140-bed Sheffield Children's Hospital, which was opened in 1903. Additional services are located at seven other hospitals.
