Sex education for young prisoners

Youth Justice
A sex education programme for young offenders in Scottish prisons is to expand after a funding boost of more than 80,000.

Sexual health charity Caledonia Youth has received a three-year £75,000 grant from The Robertson Trust and £8,500 from the Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland.

The money will be used to teach young inmates at Cornton Vale YOI, Polmont YOI, HMP Greenock and HMP Edinburgh about sex and relationships.

Caledonia Youth's chief executive Hawys Kilday said: "The fact that reoffending falls when prisoners are helped back into society, particularly through nurturing relationships with family and friends, has always been a principle for our work."
