Community safety minister Fergus Ewing outlined details of the review last week and claimed that the Antisocial Behaviour Act 2004 was making a real difference in some areas. However, he said now is an appropriate time to take a fresh look at the strategy to see whereit can be strengthened with anenhanced role for the community.
The review's objectives include developing an understanding of the use and effectiveness of key measures in the Act and determining ways in which communities could become more usefully involved in the process of tackling antisocial behaviour.
The announcement came as the Scottish Government published the results of a review of dispersal powers, which allow police to move young people on from a particular area to combat antisocial behaviour.
