The first edition of the Polmont Post will be available by Christmas for the prison's 608 16- to 21-year-old inmates. It includes an interview with a manager of the prison's addictions prevention unit, coverage of Polmont's football team, and CD and DVD reviews.
The magazine is the result of two months' work by a team of five inmates.
Mike Inglis, Polmont's manager for opportunity, said the project was designed to improve literacy, organisational and project management skills, and showed signs of improving relationships with staff.
The project is led by two youth workers through Polmont's Outlet Youth Centre, which is run in partnership with YouthLink Scotland.
