Scotland: Bank agrees use of proof of age cards

Lloyds TSB Scotland has agreed to accept Young Scot cards bearing the Proof of Age Standards Scheme (PASS) hologram, resolving the problems many young people face in providing identification documents.

Following negotiations between Young Scot and the British Bankers' Association's money laundering advisory panel, Lloyds TSB Scotland agreed to be the first bank to accept the cards, as it already supports the youth information agency.

Young Scot's managing director Graeme Robertson said the agreement had opened the door for banks across the UK to accept PASS-hologrammed cards from young people.

The organisation's deputy chief executive Louise Macdonald said: "The ability to open a bank account is a big step for young people in becoming financially independent. But many of them do not have all the documents banks require."
