The Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) last week published a report, Achieving More Together, demonstrating the advantages of schools working in partnership, rather than competition.
The development of full- service extended schools has been particularly beneficial, notably when they have been developed as part of an agreed local strategic plan.
ASCL general secretary John Dunford said: "The government has put policies in place to encourage this joint working. That process needs to be accelerated," he said.
