Rules and regulations can be pretty frustrating. They stop us doing just what we want. The good news is that they also stop other people doing just what they want. This is probably to our benefit.

When Iraq's government fell, so did the brutal police system that kept it in power. Previously protected buildings were ransacked and valuables looted.

When armed gangs and individuals impose their will on others, society breaks down. Shops cannot operate.

Trading, even in essentials like food and medicines, is impossible. Hospitals become dangerous not safe places. Education stops.

One danger is that anyone who can stop the fighting and bring order might be welcomed. When fighting warlords brought chaos in Afghanistan, order was restored by the Taliban. But these extreme fundamentalists ignored the basic human rights of women and girls.
