Later this year, as part of the reforms to 14 to 19 education, a period of work experience with an employer will be made compulsory for young people aged 14 to 16. A leading bank wants to see if the time young people spend with it can count towards a GCSE. Eventually it could be integrated into the new diploma system.

What do young people make of this idea? How many would rather just forget about academic work and concentrate from an early age on developing workplace skills? Who feels that schools should try harder to give everyone a high-quality, broad education so that young people's career options can remain open for as long as possible?
