Multimillionaire US basketball star Stephon Marbury has brought out his own line of sports shoe. The trainers incorporate the same technical features as top brands, but are sold at just a fraction of the cost. The Starbury One trainer retails at just 8, whereas some of the larger manufacturers charge up to 120 for their celebrity-endorsed footwear.
Talk about the need for cheap clothing. Do most sports manufacturers charge over-inflated prices for their goods?
Marbury, who grew up in a run-down part of New York, says he wants to provide parents on low incomes with a chance to buy good-quality sports clothing at reasonable prices. But there are lots of manufacturers providing cheap sports clothing. Discuss the reasons why young people don't wear certain brands. Talk about peer pressure and young people being bullied for wearing the wrong labels.
