The children's commissioner says he has been shocked by the numbers of young people affected by bullying. Discuss why the message is taking so long to get through to adults. Is it because young people are reluctant to talk about it? Or are adults reluctant to listen?

One reason young people do not tell adults too much about their lives may be because they do not respect them. How might adults earn young people's respect? Invite suggestions on how adults and organisations could show that they were serious about tackling bullying.

The theme of this year's Anti-Bullying Week is young people's participation in tackling bullying. Talk about how much influence young people have in reducing bullying. Do young people think peer pressure and active interventions by young people can help? Or is it mainly up to adults to create bully-free zones?
